About/Contact Us

The ConnectAbility 5k is more than just a Race. It’s a challenging athletic event and a unique community experience for families. There is something for everyone! All proceeds go to support children & adults with disabilities and their families in Northeast Georgia.

Learn more about the services the ConnectAbility provides:

Monthly Events – A free monthly respite program for children and adults with special needs. Respite is a short break for parents & caregivers to enjoy some time to themselves while we party and have a lot of fun at themed events. We have a Talent Show, Easter Egg Hunt, Birthday Party, Pool Party & Cookout, Costume Contest, Thanksgiving Banquet and tons more!

Parent Share Groups: parents of adults with disabilities meet to share ideas & resources, encourage each other and have fun.

Sibling Workshops: brothers & sisters of kids with disabilities have a chance to hang out with friends who can relate to their lives and find support for the unique challenges they face. Workshops are facilitated by counselors & play therapists.

Community Programs: being involved in the community is an important aspect of everyone’s life!

Thousand Words Photography Project: teams of professional and aspiring photographers of all walks of life join together to learn about photography, capture their perspectives in photos and learn about storytelling. We all know that a picture speaks a thousand words, but for some photographers a picture speaks all their words.

Race for a Reason: bringing athletes of all abilities together to experience the rush of crossing the finish line is what it’s all about! Runners looking to take their sport to the next level join the team to train and compete with athletes of all abilities. Along with the physical fitness benefits, deep friendships are formed, advocacy is exemplified at each race we attend and we celebrate sweeping the awards podium at pretty much all the races we attend! You’ll see Race for a Reason teams in full force at the ConnectAbility 5k/10k race as we close out our annual season.

Meet Your Neighbor: working in collaboration with the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities Real Communities Initiative, this community building project aims to bring people in our community together who would not ordinarily cross paths. We want to demonstrate and share the fact that every member of our community has unique gifts & talents to share.

ConnectAbility works with families in Northeast Georgia. All services are provided at NO COST to families!
